4 | Jen Currier | Learning how to roll with life changes and challenges isn√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢t so much of an issue for me, as it is stepping out of my comfort zone while managing things in the midst of chaos. As a survivor of Domestic Violence I spent many years intentionally avoiding social media platforms in fear that my integrity would be attacked in front of the world by the person who chose to abuse me. I then spent the next few years afraid to post anything that could lead him to where I was working, living etc. After breaking through barriers of fear and having a safety plan along with the strength to take my voice back — I have slowly slipped into a world where I find myself struggling to answer questions or share my knowledge with others. Sometimes the anxiety alone can be debilitating. I know that I do have so much to offer, it√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s just that when you have hidden behind the scenes for so long it√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢s difficult to pull those curtains all the way back. This is where confidence is key and I know I need personal growth. I admire your passion for helping others, Aleyda. You truly are an inspiration to so many. I had not heard of this amazing team of women who are willing to help light the sparkle that has been dimmed for far too long within those like myself, until today. What an awesome initiative and blessing this is for the SEO community! I would be honored to learn from all of you all and am ready to ROAR! |

31 | Crystal Horton | Hi, Aleyda! This is incredible! Thank you! I was introduced to SEO 3 years ago. I had no idea how much detail went into it and once I discovered the amazing masterpiece that can be built I was hooked! We use BrightLocal’s tools and so I devoured every blog article, training, webinar and asked their customers service techs a TON of questions every day. I implemented as much as I could understand and as a business’ phone started ringing, increased in rankings and brought on new customers from the work we put in place, it was the most amazing feeling and discovery. It didn’t take long before I discovered a passion for all things SEO.
I have been stewing on an idea to start an internship program to teach teen girls who are in high school how to get started with the basics. I’m in the beginning stages of my planning and am excited for what’s to come. I’d love you reach out to other women who would be up for starting a mentorship program to teach teen girls who want to learn the basics and how to get started and offer them a certificate so they can take the lessons with them throughout their life. |

TL;DR posted on September 13: I’m giving away two 6 months accesses to Roar Together! completely for free to SEO women looking for personal development and confidence advice. You can participate just by leaving a comment to this post expressing your interest to participate along your name and link to your website/social profile so I can get in touch with you if you win. I’ll select the winners randomly among all who leave their interest to participate in the comments (and whose comments are published) and I’ll announce the winners on September 28 2020 over here.
Why am I doing this?
In recent times I’ve come across to scenarios, like:
- Having conversations to help first time speakers of a conference, in which women double questioned themselves about being “really ready” to speak in which the men in the same scenario didn’t communicated to have these issues.
- Received many pitches to be featured in #SEOFOMO (my SEO newsletter) or Crawling Mondays (my SEO video series) in which around 90% of these pitches came from men.
These types of scenarios, along a recent study published by Nicole DeLeon showing how we still have a gender gap issue in the SEO industry, not only in terms of the presence of Women, but in the positions held and the salaries we earn vs. men.
On Friday I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a conversation organized by Search Engine Land about this, hosted by Ginny Marvin, along Nicole DeLeon and Amanda Jordan, in which we went through the many different scenarios, reasons and consequences of this, as well as the excellent initiatives that already exist for SEO women (such as Areej AbuAli’s Women in Tech SEO, or Mujeres en SEO -for Spanish speaking women-).
Among many reasons discussed in the chat, was the lack of self-confidence that can hurt women career advancement: when asking for a pay raise, when applying and interviewing for jobs, when deciding to speak at conferences or contributing with blog posts in industry publications, etc. It’s an important issue holding women back!
The Original Giveaway on September 13: Giving away initially 2 Roar Together! 6 months accesses…
I want to start contributing to solve this issue, beginning by giving away two 6 months accesses to Roar Together! completely for free to SEO women looking for personal development and confidence advice. Roar! Together is an online accelerator to supercharge people’s success, including group coaching, webinars, guided meditations, and a community, founded by the one and only Kirsty Hulse.
So if you’re a Women in SEO who would like to get their confidence boosted with Roar Together! training during 6 months for free, just leave your comment below, with your name and linking to your website/social profile so I can get in touch with you if you win.
I’ll be selecting the two winners randomly among the published comments on September 28 2020, to give enough time for women in SEO to express their interest to participate. I’ll announce who are the winners in this same post on September 28 (and I’ll share it too across my social channels too).
If for some reason I don’t get an answer from a winner after 7 days of the announcement -I’ll be getting in touch via the site/social channel that is shared in the comment-, I’ll select a new one … until I do 🙂

Aleyda, this is amazing! 2020 has been a crazy year so far, full of learning. And it still hasn’t finished so I hope I have the chance to be part of Roar, to keep on learning and boost each other’s confidence together!
I’ve been waiting for such a great opportunity and I can wait to start the journey. Hope I’ll be selected!
Thanks already!
Hi Aleyda! I would very like to participate. I have been in SEO for 2 years and everything I have learned has been self taught. I love this world and I am very passionate about learning. I am from Colombia and I hope to continue growing learning. Thank you for this iniciative!
The internet gives us the possibility to access practical knowledge from other countries and communities, to be able to rely on more advanced strategies and to improve our activities for our clients.
Since I follow Alexa my desire to become a better professional in this SEO industry has materialized, because it is an example that it is possible.
From Mexico, thank you!
Hi, Aleyda!
I would love to be entered!
Would love to be awarded one of these spots. Good luck to everyone who’s entered.

Hi Aleyda!!! Really, really need a boost in my confidence, I love SEO and I love to be in constant learning and I love with passion…
During time ago I was not feeling, recognizing or heard… Some of my co-workers suggest me, that’s happening me because I seem like a younger and shy woman at first. (But in fact, I am able to successfully lead a group of people while supporting a lot of pressure and having great results!)
Also, I felt really alone… Until I read you and the comments here!! I big big hug for all of you! thank you!
Even if I wont win the free access, what you are doing here is even more important for me!
This give me strengh to keep working and fighting, and starting a personal project for my own development
We need a supportive community now more than ever! 360InternetStrategy.com

Hey Aleyda, I recently started following your blog and newsletter after my first MOZCON this year. My name is Chloe Moore and I am a starting access point for the women in my community who are learning about SEO for the first time. One of the major ways I would love to continue my work and purpose is by joining ROAR. The hands on support would be an awesome way to continue, be empowered and supported in a meaningful. So grateful for all of the sponsors who have joined in this effort.
My LinkedIn is available online here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/moorechl/
I also have a SEO dedicated platform to assist the women in my community: https://www.instagram.com/mooreseo/
What a wonderful initiative! Thank you, Aleyda, and all the sponsors for their support for women in SEO Twitter: AnnaHallSEO

Wow what an amazing opportunity! As someone that helps lawyers and academics with SEO this would be amazing and would help grow my confidence!

This is a fantastic initiative, thanks Aleyda.
Awesome initiative Aleyda – saw you give a talk about SEO international migration in Melbourne last year and really motivated me to want to delve more into technical SEO – especially daunting when there’s not a lot of women in this space! Would love to participate (:

Hi Aleyda. Such an amazing initiative! Love it! Thank you and I would love to participate. https://twitter.com/katsolukova
This is an amazing idea Aleyda and such a great opportunity for some very lucky ladies! I’ve been in a purely SEO role for just over 4 years now and am gradually beginning to feel more confident in my role. This sounds like a fantastic chance to push me a little bit further and shape it into something amazing 🙂
Nicole’s article was such a powerful read! Data is so powerful & reading her findings was validating. I look forward to continuing to represent female SEOs.
What an amazing opportunity! As a recent agency-side SEO turned in-house SEO, it can be incredibly difficult to command a room of naysayers or promote your own value through the noise. This sort of course would be invaluable! Thank you!
Coming up on 10 years in SEO and my biggest issue in my career, according to mostly men, is overthinking and not having confidence. I’m really looking for productive ways to own my voice so that I can share my thoughts and opinions without feeling like I’m an inconvenience. I am also looking for more advice on dealing with gas lighting at work.
Thank you so much for doing this Aleyda! SEO is my passion and I’d love to be part of this group! Thank you!
Always looking to level up and would love to take advantage of this opportunity. linkedin.com/in/cristierreed.
I would love to win Aleyda. I’ve been learning and working on SEO since 2008
I love this idea. I’m someone who would love to learn the tools to be able to be confident talking about SEO.

Hi Aleyda, and thank you so much for creating this amazing opportunity. I’ve worked in SEO on the agency side for 6+ years, and am always seeking out additional learning opportunities. This seems to good to be true! Thank you for supporting women across the industry.
What a fantastic opportunity. I’m currently involved in the Women in Tech SEO Programme as a Mentor which has been so rewarding. I’ve loved connecting with other women and giving advice and training to my Mentee. But that imposter syndrome doesn’t just go away. I’d love to be involved in the ROAR training and am already a big fan of Kirsty’s.

So cool, Aleyda
Thank you for not only bringing attention to this issue but also for working on a solution. It’s much needed in this industry.
Hi Aleyda,
I have majorly been doing Content SEO for a while, now shifting to learning about technical SEO and getting my hands dirty as part of an in-house international team based in Berlin (just moved from Kenya 7 months ago); working with brands across Asia,Africa and part of Europe. This would be a great opportunity for me to steer me further to my new found love and I am very much interested in the programme.
Best,
Jill
Started out as a feeling which then grow into hope, further collaboration and empowerment for the creative, ambitious and supporting women of our industry.
Very proud of the initiative you started Aleyda! Thank you for doing this and thanks to all the sponsors who made it possible for more women.

Aleyda, this is an amazing initiative! Thank you for making it possible. I would love to participate. I’ve been a marketer for about a decade now, focusing more on SEO for the past four, and have recently started speaking. While searching for my next employment opportunity, I’ve been updating my skills online. I’d love the opportunity to be part of the ROAR program.
This is a great idea Aleyda! Thank you so much to always think about the women empowerment ;). I was a Seo for 15 years! Here is my linkedin profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/giusyveneto

Love this initiative, thank you Aleyda! I’ve been working in the SEO industry for 2,5 years which may seem like few years compared to many of the others who entered the giveaway. However, I’m (very) eager to get better and foremost, far more confident (the imposter syndrome is a real deal, like it is for most of us).
I was at the Women in Tech SEO Festival, listening to you and a lot of other talented women and would love to stand on stage myself one day. When Kirsty Hulse entered the stage, I totally loved her energy and message. Therefore, I know this programme will be nothing else but amazing.
I don’t have a website, but you can find my LinkedIn here https://se.linkedin.com/in/stellawannberg.
Hola Karla!

¡Hola, from Mexico City :)! Thank you for this opportunity! I would use a little bit of help to boost my confidence and to fight with one of my biggest fears: public speaking. The world needs more self-confident women, but I think Latin America needs even more of them!
Aleyda, I love this movement you’ve started! Thanks for your support as well as those who have helped sponsor access memberships. I’d like to be considered for the ROAR 6- month access. I’ve been in SEO for the last 3 years and I’d love to dig in further!
That´s incredible! I need this. Thank you for all your work and to encourage all women in SEO, Aleyda.

Hello there! This is a great initiative and I’d love to be part of it! For some reasons my previous post is not showing no I am sharing again in case you see duplicated! Thanks for doing this!
Hello Aleyda,
I am a relatively new at SEO. I have 3 years of experience with 1 year profound work in the field. I am studying non-stopand now I am fiercly trying my best to become a freelancer and win some projects, but not with the best of luck. I cannot afford to pay for all the tools offered here. This Roar program would help me become a freelancer and will be the FastTrack to gain some future projects, hence I would have the help, knowledge and the tools to make it happen. I hope you can imagine what kind of help this would the program be to me.

My name is Verónica Rodríguez. I’m an SEO specialist from Venezuela living in Spain for the past five years. Since I came to Madrid, I’ve been working as the SEO & Analytics Manager at the travel industry. I was on a temporary lay off since March 2020 due to the Coronavirus crisis. I started on a new job a couple of months ago, full of expectations but also with a lot of fears. I hope I could win one of the 2 ROAR Together 6 months access that you’re giving away, so I can boost my confidence again, and continue growing on the SEO industry.
Hi Aleyda, this initiative is fantastic! Loved seeing this grow from 2 spots to 20 spots in the giveaway. I’ve been working with SEO for a few years now in a sales capacity and recently jumped into the consultant arena of my career. You can find my business through social @mightymissco – Thank you for the opportunity to accelerate this career with access to ROAR! and big congratulations to the winners.
Learning how to roll with life changes and challenges isn’t so much of an issue for me, as it is stepping out of my comfort zone while managing things in the midst of chaos. I know that I do have so much to offer, it’s just that when you have hidden behind the scenes for so long it’s difficult to pull those curtains all the way back.

Thank you for the opportunity! I’ve been in SEO for about 3 years. I went from being 1 of 3 women on our team, down to the only woman on the team. Thankfully, there are plenty of women in the company to connect with but no one who is also SEO. I’ve found it more difficult to be vulnerable with my team members when I have a question or need direction.
This is awesome! @wonderwall7 on Twitter 🙂

Hello Aleyda. I would love to be a part of this. It hits me so well when you said, “Having conversations to help first time speakers of a conference, in which women double questioned themselves about being “really ready” to speak in which the men in the same scenario didn’t communicated to have these issues.”. I have been in the SEO industry for 13 years or so and have not found that confidence to share my passion for SEO besides the colleagues I interact with at work. I have been a big fan since you have started speaking in Mozcon 2012 and saw the stark difference in the number of women in SEO. Thank you so much for opening this opportunity.

What a great idea! Thanks for setting this up Aleyda, I’d definitely benefit from this
Hi Aleyda! I’m a woman and I have been working in Digital Marketing and SEO since 2006. I hope I win one of the ROAR Together also because September 13th was my birthday and that would be an awesome gift, don’t you think?
Such a lovely initiative! I have been working in SEO since 2014 but was recently made redundant because of COVID which has affected my confidence a lot. This price would definitely help getting it up again! My Twitter: @MissIdorn

Hey Aleyda, glad to see you taking this wonderful opportunity. I think this ROAR Access might be a career upgrading opportunity for me being in this industry for the past 10 years, driving brilliant results for the clients, and trying to help fellow SEO women through initiatives such as WTS Mentorship. You and Areej AbuAli are giving me inspiration to contribute more. I hope we meet soon in-person again after SEMrush Conference 2019 in India.

Hi Aleyda, I would love to be a part of this! I started out a digital marketing apprenticeship in 2017, completed in 2018 and I have been in the industry ever since. I was going to progress my career and start a new job in April 2020, but then lockdown hit and I lost both jobs. But now I’m back on my feet and working as the first person on a digital marketing team, hoping to build it in the future! My twitter handle is @samanthaoakes16 – even if I don’t win the giveaway, I will definitely be pursuing this in the future!
What a wonderful thing to do, thank you so much! My name is Kestra, and you can find me on Twitter at @kalmgirl

Hi Aleyda, thanks so much for this awesome initiative and always building other women up in the industry! I’ve been working in the SEO industry since 2012, and I’d absolutely love a chance at winning this to build my confidence in pitches, interviews and for public speaking events. Thanks for all you do, love your blogs!

My name is Rosa Cools, I am 25 years old and I’m working in a marketing agency as a SEO specialist in Girona (Spain).
I’ve worked in the industry since one year ago, and this summer I decided to start working in my personal brand (now I’m building my strategy and website, https://www.rosacools.com/). This program might be perfect to boost my career confidence!
Good luck to everyone! 🙂
Hi Aleyda, thanks so much for this initiative, i love it – we need to keep building each other up! I’m a woman and have been in the SEO industry since 2012. I’d absolutely love a chance at winning this to build my confidence in pitches, future interviews and for public speaking events.
This sounds amazing, I’d love to be considered.
Hi Aleyda, Thanks for such an initiative, this is something maximum girls are lacking including me despite of having knowledge and information but the lower confidence level pull them back in sharing the information and to speak up. This course will really help people to stand out and be more confident with clear communication. Thanks once again.

I’d love to participate in this ROAR confidence booster–perfect timing after my maternity leave. 🙂 https://twitter.com/SheenaSchleichr
Need to refocus my SEO as my business and team has grown, our company pivoted and more competition enters our space. Balancing CEO and SEO is challenging to say the least! SpiritedGifts.com

I am thrilled with your initiative! It touches me in countless ways. I have been a Brazilian SEO woman since 2009 and I suffer tremendously from the lack of confidence in myself that impedes my career and my personal growth. It would be a dream to participate in this!
Would love this! Thanks for the giveaway.
Hey! I would love to participate. I have been offered a Senior position which requires me even to relocate and I will need solid advice and support. Being part of a women tribe is very needed. Also, would love to help other females. Thanks for this opportunity
This could be an amazing opportunity to improve soft and hard skills with you. This initiative it’s just wonderful to empower women in the SEO industry. We still have a lot of barriers and your are an example of visibility, self confidence and power. Thank you so much Aleyda!
Hi Aleyda, this is amazing and I would love to participate.
As women we regularly find ourselves with imposter syndrome while our male colleagues generally have no issues with this. I’m trying to better but it’s easier said than done and I know this would make a massive difference to my career.

Amazing initiative and would love to be considered!
Thanks for doing this! Confidence in own strategies is important yet we doubt ourselves at times. It would definitely be great to have a mentor like you!

Willing to ROAR
Yes please, Aleyda! What a fantastic opportunity, would love this
Aleyda! This is incredibly generous, so yeah I would love to gain some more confidence in my talents/work. Absolutely amazing
Wow, this would be awesome! I have been putting off starting my business for ages. My website in my native language got ready just this week and I’ll start working on my English one next week but it’s just step 1 on the journey 😉
I absolutely love this. Firstly, I love Kirsty, she’s amazing. But reading this I totally felt like this was me. Wanting to do so much more, but just not having that confidence to get going. I’d love this.
This is amazing Aleyda I would
Love to regain my SEO confidence after couple of rough years with the wrong leadership
Thank you!
Hola @Angie, el training es en inglés así que si es importante que sepas Inglés en este caso 🙂 Si no sabes inglés y por eso no puedes participar no te preocupes: en un futuro haré cosas para hispanohablantes también.
Awesome initiative Aleyda!
As the only (tech) SEO at a 1000+ employee company with at least 2/3 men, I think I’m doing well but still have imposter syndrome sometimes. So would love to be able to join the ROAR program.
We are connected on LinkedIn and Twitter – we met at several conferences: @linda_tweet
Que buena oportunidad. Me pregunto si cualquier mujer que hable inglés o español puede participar o si o si se necesita saber inglés?
Such a lovely gesture ❤
This initiative is outstanding! I would like to be part of this! Thanks Aleyda!
Hello Aleyda, I do Digital Marketing and I love SEO. I have being doing digital for 8 years. I will love to win!

This is great Aleyda. I would love to participate. I am from Mexico and have been working in SEO for more than 7 years. I see the gender gap is the biggest in Latin America and I want to collaborate and teach other women in Latam about SEO. Saludos
Incredible initiative Aleyda! I would love to be selected!
This is so kind of you! I’ve been in this industry for a while now but having had a crisis of confidence in 2020 this actually sounds perfect, but even if not me, what a lovely thing to do.
Really glad you are bringing more women into the world of SEO! 🙂 Happy to participate in this initiative and bring a bit more buzz to it! Let the lucky ones win (re-submitting because the comments system seems to be a bit buggy).
Yes please! Been working in digital with a special love for SEO for 9.5 years. Recently made redundant and my confidence has taken a hit. @victoriavague on Twitter.
Hi Aleyda. Thanks for this initiative! I’m a woman and have been in the SEO industry since 2010. I’m hoping I would win one of the 2 ROAR Together 6 months access that you’re giving away. (Resubmitting since it seems the first time I tried was unsuccessful. I hope this won’t show as a duplicate.)
Love this, Aleyda! You’re the hero I need today!
